SI DIOS QUIERE, I'LL PLAY THE PIANO

by Hector
In Latino culture, at least where I come from, whenever we're talking about what we're going to do, we use the phrase "Si Dios quiere," which means "if God wants" or "if it's God's will." I'm not very religious at all, but I tend to use that phrase a lot.

MALE FEMINISTS?

by Annie
Feminism is a movement and a body of ideas developed by, for, and about women. Yes, men have become more aware of the importance of hearing women’s voices; they have started defended women’s rights a little more, but can men be feminists?

EVERYONE SHOULD BE A FEMINIST

Why do men think that they can continually abuse, degrade, and rot their women?

MODERN LOVE

by Hector
When in a relationship, whether serious or not, mutual love and respect is always important.

I really enjoyed reading Annie's post, because I jump at any opportunity to take a look into the freakish landscape that is the female mind. Don't get me wrong. Womanhood is beautiful, but I noticed a couple of things in Annie's post that seemed based solely on a woman's concept of love and commitment. Again, this idea of monogamy is keeping people apart who would otherwise be head over heels for each other.

'ONE IS NOT BORN, BUT RATHER BECOMES, A WOMAN'

by Annie
I am aware and I wanted you to be aware that men/women view things differently. For example, boys commonly take the penis as an embodiment of their “excellence”, while girls, who do not have the possibility of alienating themselves into one single part of their body, tend to turn their whole body into an object. This is where it all starts.

HARDENED BITTER SHADOWS

by Hector
My people are dying, not in numbers but in spirit. I look around and see the devolution of my tribe, a race of once-proud Latino men, women, and children. Have we forgotten where we come from?

FREE PALESTINE!

by Hector
I'm not anti-Semitic. I'm not pro-Israel or pro-Palestine. I am for justice everywhere. I am for peace in every part of the world, every country, every city, and every neighborhood. I am against oppressive government and the substitution of violence in place of democracy.

This is why I think there should be a Palestinian homeland.

HE'S A MARKED MAN

"Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty! We are free at last!"

Black America suffered second-class citizen under U.S. law, and now we have a black guy "with a funny name" as a major contender for the American presidency. Martin's dream has come true, right? Think again.

AN ABORTION BAN

by Hector
There is a lot of talk about the legitimacy of abortion nowadays. The issue of a woman's right to abort her fetus during the first trimester has been near the forefront of political and social debate ever since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973.

I KNOW WHAT GIRLS LIKE

by Hector
I know someone will read this and think it's about them. This is not really about you but about a lot of situations I'm in right now...

God? Please give me the ability to read minds. It's hard knowing what girls want from me nowadays. I'm trying to stay good. I really don't want to be an asshole... the way I was back in the day. But I gotta tell you, it was a lot easier being the insensitve bastard I was back then than it is trying to be the caring gentleman I am today.

VOTE OR CRY

by Hector

Happy New Year, everybody! (Except for the "bodies" that are Chinese or Jewish, of course.)

Tonight's the Iowa Caucus. It's here, people. After a year of talk, debates, media coverage, guessing, and water cooler chit-chat, the 2008 Presidential Election will jump off at 6:30PM in Iowa today. People are calling this the most important election since Kennedy-Nixon in 1960. Usually I would laugh at such media hype, but I kinda have to agree with them on this one. This will be a make-or-break election year, and there are several reasons why.
